Red is the heart of Chinese wedding dress — the colour of happiness, luck, and prosperity — usually paired with gold embroidery of dragons, phoenixes, peonies, and mandarin ducks, all symbols of love and a blessed marriage.

Main Styles of Bridal Hanfu

Xiuhe Fu (秀禾服)

A jacket-and-skirt set from the late Qing / early Republican tradition, the xiuhe is elegant and comfortable, with flowing embroidery — a favourite for its wearable grace.

Longfeng Gua / Qungua (龙凤褂)

The Cantonese "dragon-and-phoenix" jacket and skirt is densely embroidered in gold and silver thread, sometimes so richly that the fabric barely shows — a dazzling, heirloom-level bridal look.

Ming-Style Wedding Hanfu

Drawing on Ming court dress, this look pairs a red robe or ao with a mamianqun and, traditionally, a fengguan (phoenix crown) and xiapei shoulder drape — regal and ceremonial.
